The Canadian Institute of Theatre Technology (CITT) will host a session at the August 2013 Calgary Conference on Social Media and the Student Producton Process.

Sunday, August 18th

11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

How Much Rope Do You Give Them? is a roundtable discussion facilitated by Susann Hudson, TD and Instructor at Acadia University and Peter Fleming, Production and Operations Manager at Ryerson Theatre School and director of P.M. Arts (Production Managing the Arts Conference).  This year's topic is Social Media and the Student Production Process.

Most students, if not all, seem to be tied to their cellphones, tablets, and laptops.

In a world where social media plays such an important role in our lives, are Facebook and Twitter compatible with the traditional discipline and hierarchy associated with our industry?

Does your department have a social media / cellphone / laptop policy?

How are schools using (or not using) social media within the production process?

Who manages the social media experiences on a student production?

Can social media sites replace the paper callboard?

What is the future of social media in the world for theatre training?

This session is a continuation of an on-going forum for educational Production Managers and Technical Directors at the Production Managing the Arts (P.M. Arts) Conference, held in Toronto each March.

For further information, please see the full Conference schedule on the CITT website.
