Topic for 2014 Conference:

TRANSITIONING PRODUCTION KNOWLEDGE FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE STAGE – WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT??!!

Sunday, March 23, 2014     3pm – 5 pm    FREE (but we need a penny for your thoughts)

Hosted by Peter Fleming and Janelle Rainville

How can responsible Production students who do well on in-class technical assignments revert to high school work habits when on stage? A number of students, it seems, forget all things studied in class when performing work calls on show. Is it something in the water? Is it generational? Or is it something to do with an educational model that reinforces “Faculty teach – staff supervise”? Or does it have to do with….

Our discussions will include:

- how are individual schools reinforcing in-class lessons with on-stage work?

- is there a disconnect between faculty instruction and staff supervision?

- is the classroom experience incompatible with the social/life-style career of Production?

- is there a difference between the College and University experience?

- should we even be concerned?
